The month of May is already here. It’s the month that we celebrate Mother’s Day.  Someone once said, “Life doesn’t come with a manual, it comes with a mother.”  Job says that God fashioned us in the womb.  In our mother’s womb is where we all started life.  There is no role in life that is more essential than that of motherhood.

The apostle Paul understood that God made mothers special.  He reminded Timothy of the faith that was in Timothy’s mother Eunice that was in Timothy also because of his mother.  He told Timothy to treat the older women as mothers, thus giving them the respect that they deserve.  Mothers are more sympathetic and sensitive to their children than anyone else is.  One of the first commandments given to man in Exodus 20:12 reads “Honour they father and they mother that thy days may be long upon the land which the lord thy God gives thee.”

Everyone on earth had to come here through a mother.  God forms us and calls us to serve him while we’re still in our mother’s womb.

Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee, and before you come forth out of the womb, I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”

No one can take the place of a mother.  Jesus himself came to the earth through a mother.

Let’s take more than one day a year to honour our mothers.  They deserve our love and respect.
